The 11th International Transgender Day of Remembrance was November 20th.

From the glaadblog:
In observance of Transgender Day of Remembrance, GLAAD’s Entertainment Media team is proud to bring you an exclusive video of fabulously multi-talented performer Candis Cayne sharing her experiences in Hollywood as a transgender actress.Candis guest starred on this week’s episode of Nip/Tuck on FX and is best known for her groundbreaking role as Carmelita on ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money. As the first transgender actress to play a recurring transgender character on network primetime television, Candis has been a trailblazer in increasing the visibility of the transgender community. Candis recently shot a pilot called Yes, We Candis and can be seen performing every Monday night at The Abbey in West Hollywood.

Funnyman Ian Harvie telling some jokes at The Improv. Ian is Margaret Cho’s opening act and has been seen on One Night Stand Up on Logo and Comics Unleashed on ABC.

The Kinks, Lola

Watch a one minute long sneak peak of RuPaul’s Drag Race, season 2, which is coming to Logo in February.

In 2008, Cretin frontman Dan Martinez began living as Marissa Martinez. A year-plus later, Marissa has just completed her final sexual reassignment surgery. Apparently the extreme music community has been incredibly supportive, and it sounds like she’s doing great! I had the luck to see Cretin’s first (I believe) live show in Baltimore in winter 2006 and they blew me away. This article on her is fantastic.

Read about this amazing group the Gospel Girls in a book called Gay Religion, edited by Thuma and Gray. It has some amazing esays. You should check it out. The above photo is of Morticia DeVille who lead the Gospel Girls for 20-some years. I got this from her myspace, in case you care, lol.

Lucas Silveria of The Cliks tweet session with Paris Hilton about the character Max on The L Word.

From The Queens of Drag: NYC blog:
Film and TV producer Larry Kennar (L Word, Barbershop and 50 1st Dates), season 4 Project Runway designer Jack Mackenroth and award-winning producer/director and owner of COLT Studio Group, John Rutherford, have come together to produce a television extravaganza called The Queens of Drag: NYC that explores and exploits the glamorous and ghetto-fabulous drag queen scene of New York City.
Drag legend Lady Bunny will reign supreme in this all-star cast of drag divas, which includes the ageless and evergreen Hedda Lettuce, uber-glam Sherry Vine, the hilarious Bianca Del Rio, drag superstar and extremely controversial Kevin Aviance, sexpot songstress Pepper Mint and the classless and campy Mimi Imfurst. Breakout queens nipping at their platform heels like Epiphany Get Paid, Logan Hardcore, Chandilier Period and Dallas DuBois and will join these ladies of illusion.
The Queens of Drag: NYC will highlight all the talent and drama that is synonymous with making a living as a drag superstar in the most amazing and unforgiving city in the world. Viewers will see the real grit of drag queens’ lives in and out of drag as they try to dominate the New York nightlife scene and navigate through the struggles of making it in the shiniest, filthiest city in the world.
Multiple networks have already expressed interest in the project, and filming for the pilot began in early November.
Words that make me nervous about this show: exploits, ghetto-fabulous, classless, grit, filthiest. I hope they simply have a crap copywriter. I really enjoyed RuPaul’s Drag Race and I’d like to see another show with a similar aesthetic, but it would be very easy for the concept to be ruined by disrespect or a lack of irony.
Click through to the blog to see lots of pictures and video clips of the cast.
(Ed.: I learned of this show from reading brickhause’s post, but I wanted to post the picture and a different website than the one to which she linked, so I did not reblog her post. You should go and heart her original post to give her proper tumblarity. — purpleprimate)
